About the event

The Butner Summer Festival (originally called “Chicken Pickin’”) is an annual community celebration held the first weekend in June. This year, the festival is proudly hosted by the Town of Butner in partnership with Granville Health System. It kicks off with a lively Friday night street‑style dance hosted by the Butner Community Association at the Soldiers Memorial Sports Arena, followed on Saturday at Gazebo Park by a full day of live entertainment, a BBQ chicken cook‑off, classic car and tractor displays, food, craft and retail vendors, and family-friendly activities.

The Town of Butner, in partnership with Granville Health System, is excited to announce the 32nd Butner Summer Festival, a community tradition that brings thousands of visitors together for a full day of family-friendly fun, local pride, and summer celebration. This year’s festival will feature a wide range of attractions, including local vendors, kids’ activities, a classic car show, live entertainment, a BBQ Chicken Cook-Off Contest, and much more on Saturday, June 6, 2026, right in the heart of Butner. As we prepare for this year’s event, we invite you to join us as a festival sponsor.
