This online application is for individuals wishing to participate in the Holokū Contest at The Royal Holokū Ball, presented by Eō E Emalani. The event celebrates the beauty, craftsmanship, and cultural significance of the traditional Hawaiian holokū.
Contest categories include:
- Most Beautiful Holokū
- Traditional Holokū
- Avant-Garde Holokū
Participants will showcase handmade holokū garments during an evening of elegance held at the Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi Grand Ballroom on May 29, 2026. The ballroom opens at 5:30 PM, and contestants will present their garments as part of the evening program.
Applicants must submit their contact information, model information, and a description of the holokū garment and its inspiration. All entries must comply with the contest rules and requirements.

By submitting this application, the applicant agrees to the following terms and conditions:
Eligibility
- The holokū entered in the contest must be handmade.
- Contestants may be awarded additional judging points if proof of handmade construction is provided.
Garment Requirements
- The holokū must include a train that drags at least three (3) feet on the floor.
- Accessories may be used to enhance the overall presentation of the garment.
Contest Participation
- The model must be present in the ballroom at 5:00 PM on the day of the event for the contest showcase.
- A mandatory walk-through rehearsal will take place at 9:00 AM on the day of the contest. During this rehearsal, contestants will review entrance procedures, stage positions, and presentation logistics.

Event Participation
- Contestants agree to follow all event instructions, schedules, and presentation guidelines provided by the event organizers.
