The Maine Sea Goddess Ambassador event is open to those who meet the Maine Lobster Festivals’ guidelines.
Application Requirements:
Applicants:
· A Max of 20 Sea Princesses will be selected out of completed applications
· Must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Maine
· Does not have to reside in the Midcoast area, can live anywhere in the state of Maine. All will be required to meet expectations of the pre-event schedule
· Must be a high school (or equivalent GED) graduate
· Must be at least 17, or no more than 21 years of age, on August 3, 2022
· May only participate in the pageant once
· Must not be, or planning on becoming, pregnant during the pageant or the year following the coronation, if crowned
· Have no past or pending civil or criminal charges exceeding moving violations
Further, as an accepted applicant, a Sea Princess:
· Is required to volunteer a minimum of four hours for set up before the festival opens
· Is required to abide by Maine State Laws pertaining to illicit drugs, alcohol, cannabis, or any other illegal substance use
· Is expected to mingle on the grounds a minimum of two hours every day wearing appropriate dress, footwear, crown, and sash. (You are an Ambassador for the Maine Lobster Festival and the Fishing/Lobster industry. Be polite and courteous in whatever you do)
· Provide their own, approved, gown for the coronation event. If a Sea Princesses does not have the funds available to provide their own gown, the Coronation Committee will provide support
· Is responsible to provide their own car (convertible) and driver for the Maine Lobster Festival 2022 parade; however, contact the Coronation Committee for guidance
Awards:
Along with the duties outlined below, the crowned Sea Goddess, Crown Princess, and Miss Congeniality will be awarded a cash price in the following denominations:
Sea Goddess: $2,000
Crown Princess: $1,000
Miss Congeniality: $250
*a valid W9 must be filled out completely to receive award.
Sea Princess Schedule Requirements:
Following the application process, selected Sea Princesses will be requested to attend a series of events leading up to the 75th Maine Lobster Festival. These events will be used for judges to get to know the participants, build relationships with other participants, gain knowledge of the Fishing/Lobster Industry that the Sea Goddess represents, and most importantly, HAVE FUN.
It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that each participant makes every effort to attend all pre- Coronation events that are not listed as a REQUIRED EVENT. This will give participants information needed for potential questions during the Coronation Banquet and to interact with other participants.
