Parade of Lights
About the application
Please fill out the following application for the 2025 Colony Christmas Parade of Lights.
Date of Event: December 13th @ 5pm.
It’s dark in December — let’s fix that! Deck out your float, bike, truck, tractor, or even your goats in lots and lots of lights. The more lights, the better — we want Palmer to shine bright enough to see from space (or at least from Main Street).
A few musts:
✨ Light it up: Every entry needs to glow, twinkle, or sparkle — no dark floats allowed!
? Decorate: Add holiday cheer to match those lights — garland, bows, antlers… you name it.
? Play it safe: Double-check cords and connections — we love bright lights, not sparks!
Bring your best ideas and help us light up Colony Christmas in style!

RULES & REQUIREMENTS
Documentation/Insurance
To help ensure the safety of all participants and spectators, all vehicles (with the exception of farm tractors) must be properly licensed, registered, and insured, and all drivers must hold a valid driver’s license. Participants are also responsible for maintaining a safe distance between vehicles and walkers at all times.
Proof of insurance must be submitted with your entry form.
With these and other safety measures in place, we aim to ensure all parade-goers and participants can enjoy this exciting event safely.
Safety Notes
Car and motorcycle groups are required to drive two abreast along the parade route. Engine revving, “wheelies,” or “laying rubber” are strictly prohibited. Participants may not throw candy or any items from moving vehicles; all giveaways must be handed out by individuals walking alongside the route.
Failure to comply with these rules will result in denial of entry to future parades.
All entrants with animals must provide cleanup immediately following the animal.
Check-In/Number Assignment
All participants must check in with the Parade Leader between 3:45 and 4:30 PM on December 13th. All parade entries must be in place by 4:45 PM to ensure a timely start.
Prizes
1st place awards will be awarded. Awards will be awarded for
the overall 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners. All winners will be notified within two weeks of the event
using the contact information provided in the application.
PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD
The GPCC will conduct a poll for a time period after the parade in order to determine the "People's
Choice". The recipient of the most votes in this poll will receive an award within two
weeks of the conclusion of the poll.
Important to Note
Please keep your entry to a reasonable size (number of vehicles, trailers, or animals) and avoid extended stops or performances in front of the reviewing stand. Holding up the parade for an extended time causes delays for everyone and must be avoided.
