About the application

This application is for any photographer seeking a badge to conduct business during Matsuricon 2025. All applications must be submitted by August 1st, 2025. Upon approval, Photographers will be emailed with a link for the Photography Badge purchase. All approved photographers will be emailed no later than August 4th, 2025 and all bookings or advertisements will not be approved until badge payment has been made and a confirmation email sent out.

PLEASE NOTE: This form serves as an opportunity to apply for the badge. If you are approved, you will be sent a link for the actual purchase.

 

"For our 2025 event, there will be 20 Photographer badges available. The cost of a Photographer badge will be $125 which covers both entry to the event as well as the ability to charge for your work. Photographer badge holders will be allowed to hold shoots in any of the public areas of the convention center. Photographers will be vetted but all skill levels are welcome. Applications will be processed in the order they are received.

 

Requirements: 

Have a portfolio that demonstrates previous convention, event, or professional photography experience. The portfolio must be available as a public gallery page, such as a Flickr, Picasa, Zenfolio, Facebook Page, Etc.. Personal Facebook pages do not qualify for this requirement. Tumblr pages may qualify, but must be indexed. 

 

ALL photographers will be limited to 2 additional off camera lights stands
No backdrops will be allowed to be placed or excessive gear to clutter the convention center. However, these additional off camera lights will not be permitted in any of the Matsuricon Photoshoot Rooms/Photo Arena.
Matsuricon is not responsible for any, and all lost, stolen or damaged equipment during the convention. This includes but is not limited to personal items, as well as primary camera/video equipment.

 

Photographers will be allowed to advertise for shoots on the Matsuricon Facebook page & Discord (please limit to one post a week).
Photographers will have access to early seating for the Masquerade, Matsuri Idol, and the J-Pop/K-Pop Showcase. (20 minutes prior to General Access). Photographers will be listed on the Matsuricon website as approved Photographers.

 

All photographers will be expected to follow the same rules and regulations attendee guidelines, when purchasing any badge, to ensure a safe environment for all. Including a no tolerance harassment policy. Please review these policies which can be found on our website: https://matsuricon.org/about/policies-safety/

Failure to comply with any of the above listed guidelines may result in revoking photographer badge status. During our event, if there becomes an issue of conduct you may lose your badge and be removed from the convention center. Photographers soliciting for paid shoots without approval are subject to revocation of their convention badge and/or removal from the convention center."
