About the application
Answering a few simple questions will help you determine if you need to apply for a Special Event Permit:
- Will you be blocking or restricting public property?
- Is the anticipated attendance 100 or more?
- Will you be hosting your event at or near Downtown Rowlett?
- Will you have vendors at the event who are selling food or beverages, goods or services (i.e., fitness class/company)? Or do you plan to sell tickets for your event or sell other items at your event?
- Will you be using amplified sound?
- Will your event close or change the traffic pattern of a street or alley?
- Will your event impact the public use of a City park or natural resource?
- Will your event involve firecrackers or animals?
- Will you be using any temporary structures, like tents, bleachers, portable restrooms, inflatable structures or stages?
When organizing an event, your special event application must be submitted a minimum of 60 business days (Monday through Friday) prior to the scheduled event so plan your timeline accordingly. It's important to note that submitting an application does not automatically guarantee the issuance of the permit.

An applicanant must fill out all required fields in order for the City of Rowlett to consider the the Special Event Application valid for approval.

| Special Event Permit Exemption | $0.00 | Sec. 52-2A. - Exceptions for independent school districts, etc. The fire marshal or designee may issue a waiver of the requirements of this chapter to an independent school district, church or a non-profit corporation, as designated by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, where it is determined that such organization conducting the event can demonstrate the following: (1)That the event shall be conducted solely on private property;(2)That the event has adequate traffic control so as not to impede use of the public streets;(3)That the event has adequately provided for on-site or off-site parking not on public right-of-way;(4)That the event has provided for adequate emergency vehicle access; and,(5)That the event has provided a minimum plan for crowd control during the event. |
