Christmas in the City is on Sunday, December 1 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Rotary Pavilion and downtown Gastonia. The event features the City of Gastonia marketplace, Keep Gastonia Beautiful tree lighting, and the Gaston County Jaycees Christmas parade.
The City of Gastonia Arts Committee is hosting a wreath decorating contest. On Sunday, December 1, beginning at 4:00 pm, approved organizations may begin decorating their wreath, set up near the pavilion. The application is open to businesses and non-profits in Gastonia (must have a Gastonia address.)
If your application is approved, you will receive one wreath (24 inches). There will not be access to power, so the lights you put on your wreath must be battery powered. You will need to provide lights and your best creative theme/decorations. The theme must be relevant to your business or non-profit, or be decorated in a seasonal holiday theme. Please be creative and think outside the box!
During the event, voting will take place until 7:00 pm for the best decorated wreath. The winner will be announced at the pavilion no later than 7:45 pm.
First place- $200
Second place- $100
Third place- $50
Please review the attached release of liability agreement for a complete list of rules, regulations and allowances. All applicants must sign the application showing that they have read and agree to the release of liability agreement.
After the event, organizations are welcome to take their wreath and decorations with them. All wreaths must be picked up by 8:00 pm or the wreath becomes property of the City of Gastonia.
The application is open from Thursday, October 31 through November 17 . The application is open on a first come, first approved basis. Once all spots are filled, the application is closed.
