About the event

We are looking for our next ambassador. Could it be you? The 2024 Ambassador will represent Reading Pride Celebration and serve as a role model for the LGBTQ+ & allied communities of Berks County. Selected finalist will compete in 3 Categories on June 2nd at our annual gala for the title, and a cash prize of $500. Competition details can be found in the application, and the contest flyer shared in the photos below.

About the application

REQUIREMENTS 
• Live in Berks or its surrounding counties
• Be 18+ years old at time of competition
• Be actively involved in the service of the 
LGBTQ+ community either through their 
employment or personal volunteer work
• Be available to compete for the title at 
the Dancing Under the stars Gala on 
June 2, 2024 and promote their 
involvement.
• Complete an application, and submit a 
1-5 minute video detailing their work 
with the LGBTQ+ community and why 
they would make a good ambassador
• Review, agree, and sign to the 
Ambassador Contract (available on the 
application page)
 
THE COMPETITION 
Selected finalists will compete in the following 3 categories*:
• Show us your pride: Wear your pride colors as creatively and festively as you can.
• Talent: Show us your talent. Talent may include lip syncing, singing, dancing, spoken word poetry, etc. Can you entertain the crowd and Judges.
• Q&A: The judges will ask one question of 
each contestant. Questions will be around LGBTQ+ history, issues, etc.
*An independent panel of judges will score and name 
the winner.
 
THE PRIZE 
The Winning Contestant will be named the 
2024 Reading Pride Ambassador and 
receive a sash, medallion, and $500 cash. 
All winnings are subject to the terms of the 
contract.
 
The competition is a gender-neutral celebration of the entire LGBTQ+ community. Drag is welcome but not,
required.

Terms & Conditions

 
TERMS & CONDITIONS
 
All Contestants must agree to the contract to qualify as a finalist. 
 
Submission of an application does not gurantee a peformer will compete. RPC will review all applications and select finalist to compete. Finalist will be notified by email to prepare for the competition. All finalist will compete at the RPC Dancing under the stars Gala, and will receive complementary addmission to the gala for themselves and one guest. Details will be sent to finalist in the congratulatory email. 
 
In addition to inviting supporter s to the competition, all finalist will receive a QR code and link to share for voting. As the Gala and competition are a fundraiser for RPC, the general public is invited to participate in the voting process. Each vote costs one dollar, and those votes can add points to your overall judges score as described below. Finalists can beging sharing thier QR code upon the official announcemnet to the general public. Finalist will be provided a date to begin sharing in their congratulatory email. 
 

The Judges sheets have 375 points each that they can grant, but the audience votes can earn you extra points. You all have links & QR Codes. The top 3 with votes will have 1st:30, 2nd: 20, & 3rd: 10 points added the over all score. These extra points really make a difference.

 
Contestant will receive a copy of the contract that must be signed and returned immediately after submission of application. 
 
As the ambassador serves as a role model for members of all ages in the LGBTQ+ community of Greater Reading, lude behavior, nudity & profanity are strictly prohibited from the competition.
