About the event

Celebrating Katy Area’s history and longstanding cultural values, we will be providing family fun for everyone! The event will be focused around our Historic Town Square in front of Katy City Hall, and we are once again partnering with Rotary Club of Katy (“Katy Rotary”) as the beneficiary. We are also proud to announce that 100% of net proceeds go back into our Katy Community through opportunities like Scholarships, Non-Profit Organizations, and Charities. Octoberfest: Friday, October 13th from 6pm-10pm: Our free public event featuring live music, beer, food trucks, and we are bringing back the carnival! Katy Rice Festival: Saturday, October 14th 10am-10pm & Sunday, October 15th 12pm-6pm: Featuring arts & crafts vendors, an expanded kids/teen zone including the carnival, live international music entertainment, food trucks, beer garden, contests, and much more. Expecting to have 150 vendor booths and an attendance of over 15,000 people over the two-and-half day event we know you’ll find your new favorite shops to support, food trucks you haven’t tasted before, and even make new friends! There will be significant parking and free shuttle service to and from the Merrell Center during all hours of the festival.

About the application

We invite all art students to participate in the 2023 Katy Rice Harvest Festival Arts Contest. Paying tribute to our heritage, each entry must have a Historic Katy theme – use rice or show off our rice dryers, highlight life in Katy back in the 1900’s, re-create an old building or item from our museums, etc. We encourage creativity and originality!

We ask Art Teachers to help facilitate this competition, perhaps by having all your students create something and then you choosing your top 1-2 entries for each Category per Contestant Class to be a part of the Katy Rice Festival Art Contest. We would love to have every school in Katy represented in this year’s festival!
