This piece conveys feelings of hope and wanderlust. The llama looks into the distance, the wind is swirling, mountains are calling and a fairy/angel is blessing the journey that is to come. I think the distant gaze reflects an understanding that the world isn’t just a set of amazing places to see and visit, but more importantly it is full of wonderful and inspiring people you get to meet along the way. And he’s wanting so much to see it – to find it and to be a part of it. I collaged in poems from two Chilean poets – Pablo Neruda and Gabriela Mistral. In Neruda’s poem “Ode to the Book II” he writes, “we the wandering poets explored the world, and every door received us” (this is an English translation, but it’s close) His beautiful words captured exactly what I was thinking.
