Original artwork measuring 36h x 72w x 2.5. Completed in 2018, the piece is mixed media - acrylic and collage on canvas. My intentions for this piece center on the creative process and our attempts to find inspiration.
The chaise sits halfway in the water almost as if a tide is rising - or a river is ebbing and flowing - like ideas creeping up ever so slowly until they fill your thoughts. The markings on the impala’s face covers their eyes and makes their gaze on you elusive - representing the moments in the creative process where ideas feels close but refuse to be nailed down. The flowers on the chaise are like pinpoints of thoughts and ideas blooming in a place where they shouldn’t be able to.
The moon is a classic symbol of light and inspiration and at some point two of them appeared in the sky. It just felt right.
