Symphony

Light and airy abstract realism painting which juxtaposes spontaneous splatters and flings of paint with more deliberately placed flowers on a stretched cotton canvas. This mixed media painting incorporates a range of mediums including oil, acrylic and household paints, applied by brush, stick, palette knife and spray can. Upon the drips and splatters of white, gray and lavender paints, there are spray painted stencils of sheet music and lyrical writings (a subtle nod to the title of the work). Upon this rich and textural under painting sit an impasto-style application of oil paints which create white, purple and yellow flowers, which seemingly dance and spin among the gestural grasses of a field.
