Oil on Walnut. Also know as the monkey-eating eagle, the Philippine eagle is one of the world's largest, most powerful birds of prey and unfortunately close to extinction for the past 40 years. They are monogamous and mate for life, unless one of the pair dies. The breeding cycle lasts 2 years and both share parental care for 20 months. Their primary meal is the Philippine flying lemur, but also eat monkeys, monitor lizards and snakes.

Hello, this is my 6th year participating in Christmasville as The Bird Lady. My birds are painted in oil on various types of wood from the area. For the last 3 years I have created a limited edition series especially for Christmasville—Cardinals, Woodpeckers and now Owls. The owl’s most fascinating feature for an artist is their coloring and patterned plumage – which is why the owl was chosen as the 2020 Limited Edition bird.
My limited edition Owls are available here, but you can also shop my website, www.kaysoriginals.com, for all of my other birds.
