I paint African symbols on repurposed furniture. These symbols have been used all over the African continent for over a thousand years and tell you something about the people who use them.
In African culture concentric circles when worn as jewelry take on symbolic meanings for generations and ancestors. Young girls are given necklaces from their fathers during noteworthy occasions. As the girl matures and marries, her husband will continue the practice.
