Original Drawing - Goddess of August in Ink and Gold

This Lady for August inhabits the world between, the river of the dead. Her waters guide the soul's journey back and forth between the realms. She presides over the summer gate during the time when souls are allowed to reunite with their loved ones. She represents the birthstone of the Peridot and the birth flower of the Poppy and draws inspiration from the Obon festival of Japan. This particular rendition was inspired by her enamel pin design, which you can also find in my shop. This drawing was created by hand with india ink then accented with genuine 23k gold leaf. It has been matted in a single white mat with a black core that accentuates the piece. SIZE: 5x7 inches matted to 8x10 inches
