Photograph description: Around midnight on an early October evening, I was about ready to crawl into my warm sleeping bag when I saw a bright glow on the northern horizon. Over the course of the next two hours, I watched in awe as the magical aurora borealis drifted and pulsated across the northern sky from my solitary perch at the edge of a 150-foot cliff above Lake Superior.
