MIRRORING II.
Two visitors to the Museum of Modern Art in New York City view Pablo Picasso's 1932 painting Girl before a Mirror. Considered to be one of his masterpieces, the painting has elicited varied interpretations. It shows Picasso's lover, Marie-Thérèse Walter, looking into a mirror, with a familiar yet contrasting mirror-image looking back at her. While the woman is painted with brighter colors and exhibits a more beautiful face, the figure in the mirror is darker and more grotesque.
Framed in a satin black floating frame made from an Italian moulding.
