"Ice. Wind. Sky." - Framed

Acrylic on gallery style wood panel. Custom black gallery style frame. Ready for hanging. This painting was inspired by one of my trips home to the James Bay Region in Northern Canada. Each time I return to this place I am humbled by the inherent power and the beauty of the land, and how effortlessly it commands respect and rouses the senses. And I am struck by how, along with experiencing the environment in its totality, there are those profound moments when I simultaneously experience the distinct, ‘separate’ aspects that comprise the ‘whole.’ Those moments when the thick, jagged river ice is experienced completely on its own, separate from the seemingly endless sky above it -- and the trees are experienced in their own unique completeness apart from everything else that surrounds them. There is a richness in those moments that mind cannot grasp and that remains far beyond the limitations of language. These kinds of experiences connect me with my own essence, my most intimate Being. And, as I listen to the wind and feel its dry northern bite, I am reminded that we too are ‘space’ moving through ‘space.’ The Formless One behind all forms.
