As I stood on several occasions watching the dismantling of some office buildings to make way for new construction, I was stuck not only by how complex the buildings were, but also how careful the demolition was. No explosions or wrecking balls, but machines with long slender arms and steady hands that tugged and pushed at support posts, ceilings and floors, bit by bit, encouraging them to relax and fall to the ground below. Many people would probably know the machines as demolitions cranes! Presumably it was done this way to reduce the impact as far as possible on people living nearby. Very dusty and noisy work!
I created this composite image using one of the images I took and adding various layers of texture and colour. I was hoping to give it a slightly ancient look to reflect that the building was a disappearing product of the past - not that the building was ancient by any stretch to the imagination. It also helps to highlight the plethora of wires and cables embedded in the concrete structure but hanging exposed for all to see.

Hello! I've been taking photographs on and off for many years and have become happily more entrenched in it over the past six years or so. There are so many things to see and experience and it’s great to be able to reflect, record and re-present just a few of them as time moves on.
I like to create a variety of images, the majority of them being landscapes. In landscapes I’ll include anything from rural to urban to industrial, buildings and so on. Shades of the familiar and the not–so familiar. I see pretty much everything around us as a landscape, so I’m definitely using the term in its broadest sense! My images may often be abstract as I’m very much enticed by patterns, colours and textures, often in the most simple things such as water, clouds and plants. They can be subtle or much more blatant, but equally mesmerizing.
More recently I've been experimenting with composite images, layering, blending, and digitally painting multiple photographs to create a new kind of landscape and a different way to tell a story.
