• Measures 5" tall • Made of an exclusive hydrocal blend • Antique stone finish • Indoor use only What a magnificent beast the griffin is- a fabulous composite creature with characteristics of the king of the beasts (the body of a lion), and the kind of the skies (the head, wings, and talons of an eagle). Legends speak of the griffin as a fierce protector, so you'll want to keep this little guy close by, to guard over your home or work space. The key that he grasps in his claws represents good fortune. The Gryphon Plaque has a flat bottom, and can stand on its own. But it also has a loop on the backside, and can be hung from the wall, if you prefer. The Griffin Plaque was created by Jay Hungate. When designing a new sculpture, Jay begins by working with plasticine clay to create the original. When he is happy with his progress, Jay makes a single-use mold and casts the piece in hard plaster. Once that is done, he uses the piaster model to carve additional details, refining and enhancing with every step. Next, he takes the new plaster model, and uses it to make a durable rubber mold, with which to cast finely detailed reproductions of the original. And finally, each piece is hand-finished and painted for the crucial finishing touches.
