2024-2025 Service League of Cherokee County President
As the oldest service organization in Cherokee County, the Service League is comprised of 100 women unified by one goal – to serve the children of Cherokee County. Members commit to volunteer a minimum of 50 hours of service each year. League members support the children in our community through fundraising and volunteerism.
We are 100 different women from different backgrounds. The Service League is comprised of educators, nurses, pharmacists, business leaders, lawyers, moms, and followers. All 100 women bring a different perspective. Many teachers have been inspired to join the league after witnessing the league’s work to restore their student’s electricity or provide a student with eyeglasses so that he or she can read the board.
Transparency is at the heart of the Service League. The league meets the second Tuesday of each month where one of the first orders of business is a case work report. The President Elect offers a report on money spent on basic needs, rent/housing, utilities and medical/dental/vision for children in Cherokee County. The league then learns the specific number of children and families served by the casework the preceding month.
The league has no paid staff. We rely 100% on volunteers to achieve our mission. League members selflessly take time away from their family, friends and colleagues to volunteer and do the work necessary to meet the needs of children in our community. Since 1935, the Service League has been a consistent and stable presence in Cherokee County.
