Kathryn
Kathryn Rutherford is a Canadian-born fine artist, photographic and fine art restoration specialist, and educator currently operating the Heirloom Art Studio in East Tennessee with a view of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park right out her front window.
Her original fine art paintings and restorations have been featured in a multitude of international exhibitions and have received prestigious awards from Eastman Kodak Company, Epcot Center, Fuji Photo Film Corporation, American Kennel Club, Golden Retriever Club of America, Kraft Dreams on Ice, and received awards and online recognition from Manhattan Arts International and Artsy Shark. Her paintings and restorations are in corporate and private collections worldwide.
Rutherford's unique "Spirit Paintings" are investigations of the effects of light and shadow using transparent, pure paint layered onto canvas to create jewels of colour and deepened shadows as light passes through objects, figures, and space. They portray treasured heirlooms, multi-generational stories of ordinary lives, or a state of being on a metaphysical plane.
