Beach Haven Sunrise

"Beach Haven" is inspired by the view at the quaint 1930's resort on Orcas Island. This view is from one of the tiny rustic log cabins which offers solitude (without wifi or TV.), the sound of the waves which almost tickle your toes while otters & eagles entertain. This painting is a mixed media painting created on a heavy watercolor paper & gelled on a birch cradle. The art work begins with a powdered charcoal under painting with 22 layers of transparent fluid acrylic paint applied on top. Each layer is dry before the next layer is applied. This technique creates a 3-dimensional look which changes according to the light & angle that you are looking at on the piece.
