• Full circle cloak • Handmade copper clasp • Machine washable. Easy care. I'll be honest with you... I kinda hate to sell this one. That's how nice it is! Of all the cloaks I've made (and I've made a lot), this is easily one of my top ten favorites. It will definitely look at home an any setting, from historical, to fantasy and cosplay. The fabric is a lovely golden brown, with a soft, brushed finish on its surface. It drapes and moves beautifully, without feeling bulky or uncomfortably heavy. All down the front opening, and in double rows around the hem, you'll find coordinating trim in shades of brown, green, and black. Did it take forever to do all the extra stitching? You bet! Do I regret the extra time I spent on this cloak? Not even a little bit! This cloak also has a hood, to protect you from inclement weather, or to conceal your identity as you lurk mysteriously in the shadows. This cloak measures 47" from the back of the neck to the bottom hem. The neck opening is 23 1/4" around. Be aware that this cloak is longer than most. If you are on the petite-side, be sure to measure carefully to ensure that this cloak won't drag the ground as you walk. My husband makes the clasps for my cloaks, handworking the copper wire, and work hardening it as he goes, to make each piece as durable as it is beautiful. This is a full circle cloak. That means it has a lot of fabric in it. This is the type of cloak that makes otherwise staid and sober adults want to twirl around until they can no longer stand up straight. The cloak is machine washable and easy to care for. What makes your cloaks so special? Before any sewing occurs, the fabric is washed in hot water and dried on high heat. The same happens with any trims that will be used. I typically do not know the fabric content of the materials I work with, and doing this ensures that there will be no unpleasant surprises, like shrinking or fading, down the road when you wash your cloak. The finishing touches are what it's all about! All seams are flat felled or French seamed, all hems are double rolled and double stitched, and all corners are mitered. Yes, it's a pain, and yes it takes longer to make it that way, but it means that you will not have any raw edges on your cloak that will ravel. In short, I take a great deal of pride in each cloak I make, because I want it to be something you will wear and enjoy for years to come. These are not cheap costume pieces, meant to wear once and throw away. They are carefully crafted garments which will stand up to years of wear and tear. Does this item come from a smoke-free, pet-free home? Smoke-free? Most definitely. Pet-free? Absolutely not. Every cloak is washed once it is completed and ready to be shipped. But if you have super severe allergies, please keep in mind that my cats do like to "help" me as I sew.
