"Tropical Island" by Anna D

Watercolor 5.5"x8.5" This watercolor painting is from one of my sketchbook assignments which is a landscape from observation. I decided to paint a beach landscape because I love the beach and I also wanted to improve on my landscape artwork. One challenge I did experience when creating this was trying to mix a color for sand, which I eventually got from mixing yellow and brown. To create the leaves of the palm tree, I used a small skinny brush to paint thin lines. To create the waves and the clouds I actually used regular white paint and dabbed it onto the painting with a small brush to create the effect. Overall, I am very happy with this painting and how well it turned out.
