Description
Fierce, strong, bold and beautiful are all words that describe this one-of-a-kind mixed media necklace. I used hand-dyed cotton in the flaming colors of a Georgia O'Keefe painting (red, orange, small flecks of charcoal, beige, peach) to crochet a thick fringe along the bottom edge of a bright gold metal crescent focal piece. Tiny, fire-colored, iridescent glass beads and deep antique gold drop beads were added to embellish the fringe. I hand-embroidered the rectangle on the crescent moon shape at the top of the metal focal with a matching thread that has hints of sparkling metallic.
The chain is a bright gold and closes with a gold leaf toggle clasp.
The crescent focal or pendant is about 2 inches long and about 2 3/4 inches at its widest point. The necklace is about 24 inches long.
