Wings of Morning Natural Edge bowl

This is a series I've long worked with that is inspired by the good fortune of living and working on the west slope of the Sierra Nevada range -- here dawn doesn't break gently. As the sun claws its way up the east slope of the Sierra Nevada then crosses Donner Pass it breaks forth into the far west with spectacle and brilliance. Morning does not come gradually but arrives with a brilliant symphony of grandness and gratefulness -- it flies in on "Wings of Morning". These bowls are made from a variety of local woods, primarily one of the local oaks usually harvested from my own woods. Oaks from this narrow elevation range in the western foothills, are close grained and stable with regard to holding their bark attached. Each is slightly different than the illustration, as in each case, in the process of creation I have to respect the nature of the wood and what we have to work with. Individual bowl dimensions may vary slightly, up to one inch either way. All celebrate the glory of opportunity -- each is a salute to the daily gift we have to start anew. Although similar in a series, they all are unique in character and form. Each has been a friend to me during their growing and again in trusting me to do well by them.
