Solid Copper Flower Heart on Heart Necklace

This is a solid copper, original sculpted design, one-of-a-kind necklace in the shape of a heart. I stamped larger flowers on the heart, then added a smaller, folded heart stamped with smaller flowers. It comes on a matching copper chain that is 18 inches long plus a 2-inch extender. This is a process using metal clay shaped and molded, then baked in an oven to dry. After sanding and tweaking, I bake it in a kiln at 1750 degrees Fahrenheit for three hours. The clay burns away, leaving only the solid copper that was suspended throughout the clay mixture. The piece then gets scrubbed, a patina added for an aged look, then highlights polished out. Sometimes I use a torch to create warmth in the coloring. Finally, I coat the finished product with a sealant. Although sealed, copper shouldn't be submersed in or exposed to water or harsh elements. If the copper rests against skin, skin can sometimes turn green when there is moisture present - this is normal and will go away once the copper is no longer present. Note that I haven't had this happen with necklaces myself, only rings since hands are much more moist. Copper can continue to patina, aging naturally over time.
