Tuesday, February 17, 2026, 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM Ages 3-12 It’s back and better than ever! The Chicken Chase returns to Mardi Gras for a fast-paced, crowd-favorite competition full of laughs and local flair. Participants will race, chase, and compete in this lighthearted event that’s all about fun, friendly competition, and Mardi Gras spirit. Whether you’re chasing or cheering from the sidelines, this classic event is guaranteed entertainment for all ages! A special thank you to our partners, Butler Contracting!

Official cook-off, tasting and judging will take place between 5-8pm. Winners announced at 8:30pm. **Ticketed event**

Add a splash of color and creativity to Mardi Gras with our Mardi Gras Umbrella Parade! Participants of all ages are invited to decorate an umbrella in true Mardi Gras style and take part in a short, festive parade through Downtown Bastrop. Get creative with beads, feathers, florals, lights, glitter, and bold colors — costumes are encouraged! Whether you participate solo, as a duo, or with a group, this joyful, family-friendly parade is all about celebrating community, creativity, and Mardi Gras spirit. Registration/judging will start at 6pm and parade will start at 7pm. Following the parade, decorated umbrellas will be judged in a friendly competition, with prizes awarded for: Best Overall – 1st Place, Best Overall – 2nd Place, Best Overall – 3rd Place, Best Duo, and Best Group. All ages and experience levels are welcome — come march, celebrate, and let your umbrella shine!
