About the event
6th Annual Multicultural Festival - A free, two-day, festival that draws thousands of people from more than 110 different cultures to experience music, dance, food, visual arts, spoken word, games and interactive activities in Downtown Orlando. 5th Annual Fusion Cooking Contest - Experience unique fusion dishes with ingredients and techniques from around the world made by local chefs as they compete for the $1,000 prize! MYgration Films 2023 - A film festival in partnership with the Global Peace Film Festival in which local filmmakers have five days to produce a short, three to five minute, documentary about a person’s journey to Central Florida. Filmmakers and subjects are randomly paired on a Friday evening and the film must be submitted by midnight Wednesday. There’s currently a collection of about 50 films, and every month, a Watch Party is hosted featuring a live conversation with past participants and special guests.

WHAT: Capturing the stories of Central Floridians from around the world in a short 3 to 5-minute documentary film. 
 
HOW: Fill out this application. Selected participants will attend the Pairing Event and get randomly paired with a Filmmaker. 
Filming will take place August 27-30. Any further days will be arranged between you and your filmmaker.

Come dance around the world with us. Join us for a fun opportunity to teach a cultural dance from your heritage at our very new WORLD DANCE PARTY tent.  
 
You will be responsible for 15 minutes of cultural dance instruction; than 15 minutes of dance with a diverse audience. 
In order to ensure participants can tune in above the excitement and sounds of the festival; we will have headsets available for silent disco.

Join us in your most creative costume for a fun time in Central Florida's most diverse festival + walk the runway for a chance to win cash prizes.
 
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: People of all ages who love the cosplay culture. Costumes must be family-friendly.
 
HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Fill out an application to tell us about your costume. Selected participants will receive an email from curator..
This is a new category, so applications will stay open until all spots available are filled. We highly encourage cosplayers to sign up today to reserve a spot!
 
SHOWS: The Cosplay Contest will take place Sunday, November 25 at the festival at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Orlando, at the  Allen Family Foundation Stage.

Selected participants must check-in with the curator at least 20 minutes before the show.

Create a display of your cultural heritage at FusionFest! 

Festival: November 25 & 26, 2023 at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts
 
Here is a chance to display items, costumes and information about your heritage. FusionFest provides a table and wall grid on which you can display the things you want to show festival-goers. You may also want to have a staff person there to talk with the audience.
 
Set up on Friday, November 24. Load out after 6pm on Sunday, November 26. Our curators Maria Fernanda Saavedra and Samir Fkiyki will be choose 20 organizations representing heritages from all corners of the globe, to make the most interesting and varied tent for Central Florida attendees.

What FusionFest provides:

What the participating organization provides:
  • Complete application by November 1st
  • Decoration of their space to display their cultural heritage - it can be a static display that people view from the outside or something they can step into to take pictures or enjoy interacting with

FusionFest welcomes the many folkloric dances of North America, Africa, the Caribbean, Middle East, Latin America, Asia, and Europe in authentic costumes to be performed to traditional music all in one place.Share an elegant fan dance or an exciting dragon dance of the Chinese culture. Show off the complex rhythms and footwork in traditional Irish step dance, Spanish Flamenco or American tap.

Applicant is submitting  to be considered to walk the runway at FusionFest's 6th Annual Festival - showcasing traditional attires, costumes, uniforms and authentic outfits from a specific culture, from any time period.
 
Each participant must register themselves providing a unique contact email and complete the online registration waivers.

We are calling Central Florida designers, of all levels and specialty, to showcase their passion for fashion, by submitting their original designs in the Fusion Fashion Design Competition.
Each entry will showcase the designer’s unique style along with their interpretative infusion of elements from two regions of the world, from any historic period. The winning selection will blend elements from their selected regions elements of shape, color, texture, and line while utilizing fabrics, patterns, and material from each region.
 
· Designs must be 100% original materials. No pre-made scarfs or t-shirts, for example. The only non-original parts of your design that are permitted are shoes and accessories.
· Participants are responsible to supply their own model and provide hair and makeup. 
· There will be many fashion shows over the two-day festival, and you must participate in a minimum of 3 shows. 
·  On Sunday, participants are required to be present in the final show for judging and then to be present for the awards show at closing of event.

WHAT: Local Artists are invited to submit original artwork for exhibition and sale at FusionFest 2023, created in the past 3 years and not exhibited before in FusionFest.
 
THEME: "Who I am". How does your cultural heritage help to define who you are? What are the strongest influences?
*No nudes, political, violence or racial discrimination subjects will be allowed.
 
DIMENSIONS: Min:11"x14". Max:30" high x 36" wide.*Artwork with finished gallery edge, framed and wired ready for hanging.
Sculptures, Max. 3 feet high.
 
This is a call for artists to express the uniqueness of their heritages. What are the celebrations, colors and textures of your heritage and cultural background. Artists are encouraged to submit up to 3 of their artworks and the most aligned to the theme will be selected for the FusionFest Annual Exhibition. Judges will score on a) skill, b) creativity and c) theme
 
*Artworks that don't follow the requirements will not be selected.
  • All artwork submitted and accepted must be for sale. All sales subject to 40% commission to FusionFest.

Register to have a time that all the folks from your country/state/affinity group - whatever group you want to gather - will meet at the bleachers at FusionFest's entrance for a photo and time to meet each other. Yves will get back to you with the time that you can share far and wide that is your Meet-Up time. He'll also see that the flag of your group is at the photo shoot.  Feel free to dress in clothing appropriate to the group.

Your portrait will join an upcoming FusionFest exhibition; these portraits will be part of a FusionFest exhibition, eventually. A local writer and a top Brazilian photographer will also be assisting.
