Community Group Scarecrow Harvest App (Businesses, Families, Non-profit, Civic organizations)

The Annual Scarecrow Harvest display is a time when our community comes alive with creative life-size scarecrows.  The community will design, create and install scarecrows, displayed throughout downtown Alpharetta - in our downtown parks too! 

• This application is for Alpharetta businesses, non-profit organizations, civic groups, neighborhoods, families and individuals, inside Alpharetta city limits.  Anyone is welcome to create and display a scarecrow and join the fun!  Open the attachment below for additional information. 
• Your scarecrow needs to be fun and family friendly.  Please refrain from using your scarecrow to express political statements or opinions. Thanks!

• Due to the Covid19 pandemic, the City of Alpharetta will not be hosting the fall festival event at Brooke St. Park in 2020, but we will celebrate with the scarecrow displays around town. 
• New! We will have a self-guided walking tour of all the scarecrows this year!
• No cost to participate and display your scarecrow.
• The People's Choice award will be hosted on our Facebook page (@AlpharettaRecreation).  All scarecrows are eligible and anyone may cast a vote by simply posting a selfie with their favorite scarecrow on our page during the contest dates of Oct 6-13.  Rules & details will be posted online before the contest goes live.

• Complete the application by Thursday, Sept. 10.  All scarecrows must be family-friendly.
• Please refrain from using your scarecrow to express political statements or opinions. 
• One bale of wheat straw (per application) is provided as your scarecrow base, as long as you have completed the application by the deadline date. 
• These wheat bales will be dropped ahead of your installation, at your pre-assigned scarecrow location.
• Scarecrow locations will be assigned by City of Alpharetta.
• Please let us know if you would like a location in front of or right outside your place of business.
• Your Scarecrow installation will take place anytime from Sept 28 - Oct 5.  Please have your scarecrows in place by Oct.5
• Ensure your scarecrow is sturdy, weather-proof, wind-proof and staked firmly in the bale of wheat straw the City of Alpharetta has provided as your base.
• Once installed, periodically check your crow to make sure it has weathered the elements. This is very important!
• Make a sign and laminate with these items on it.  a. Scarecrow name  b. Business or organization name OR individual or family's name. 
• Your scarecrow sign should be placed in the wheat bale base or on the scarecrow and needs to be 8 1/2 in. x 11 in. and laminated.
• Scarecrows come down on Nov 2.  Please remove your scarecrow by that time.
• By completing the application, applicant has agreed to the terms and conditions.
