Festival Grounds – preparations for festival opening Festival Grounds Volunteers are the ultimate Lago Fest Ambassadors. Duties may vary according to ever changing needs throughout the festival area. These duties may include helping monitor safety and smooth operations in any or all areas of the festival, filling in for “no shows” in other areas of the festival such as festival merch tent, artist hospitality, kids’ activities, etc. Lago Fest Ambassador volunteers will also roam the grounds, welcome people getting off the shuttle bus at festival entrance, be available to answer questions from festival goers, offer to take festival goers’ photos at various social media photo opp areas, encourage people to visit the artists and stage, give directions of where things are, help with lost and found requests, and more. Festival Grounds Volunteers are experts at being gracious hosts and are flexible and willing to lend a hand wherever needed. (Note: Volunteers are not asked to clean porta potties or empty garbage/recycling bins.) Take interest in their work, ask how they create it, thank them for coming. You are an important Lago Fest ambassador. WHAT IS BOOTH SITTING? Artists cannot leave their booths without the very real fear of theft of their artwork. This is especially true for artists who sell smaller items such as jewelry. Booth sitters allow artists the opportunity to go to the restroom, get food, or just take a break for any reason. It is one of the most important services a show can provide and one of the top things artist request and give feedback on. HOW TO BE A GOOD BOOTH SITTER: Introduce yourself to the artist and ask if they need a break. During your volunteer shiftlAsk them for any information they'd like you to give to customers when they step into the booth. For example, what is the art, what are the materials that go into making it, where is the artist from, do they have a website, offer them a business card. This is actually a fun opportunity to learn about the artist and their work for yourself. Lago Fest Stage – musician hospitality set up Festival Stage Volunteers will assist with a variety of hospitality duties including but not limited to setting up the musician backstage hospitality tent and keeping it clean and supplied throughout the day and evening with ice, drinks, and snacks. Assist stage manager, tour managers, or event director with anything bands may need. Lago Fest ARTS artists will be allowed to tear down their booths and load out at 7:30 pm when the music headliner hits the stage. PLEASE FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS from Lago Fest ARTS Coordinator, Larry Hughes (832.545.4412) who will supervise and make the call when artists will be allowed to start packing. No pre-packing, tearing down booths, dollying out equipment, or vehicles allowed onto the festival grounds until police have approved and Larry has given instructions. Prior to load out, please collect artist surveys that were included in their artist packets during check in. These surveys give us feedback on how we did. Once artists are officially allowed to start loading out, assist in any way that is helpful to them AND makes the process SAFE for any festival goers who may be standing in the way or walking around the area. Artists may need help navigating their vehicles. The most important factor is SAFETY. Pack up artist hospitality items, clean table.
