The Schererville Park Department is now making preparations for our annual Celebrate Schererville Parade and Festival.  As always, this year’s festival will be a five-day event at Redar Park on June 7-11. The festival has continued to grow since its inception in 1991 with the generous support of many businesses and the Town of Schererville.

The food vendor application with rules has been enclosed for your convenience.  Please note that all applications and items to be sold are subject to approval.  To insure your participation in the fest the application must be completed by May 22nd, 2023  After this deadline, applications will be DENIED. Returning Food Vendors have first dibs until March 31st.

The festival hours will be as follows:
Wednesday & Thursday, 5:00pm-11:00pm
Friday, 5:00pm-11:30pm
Saturday, 2:00pm-11:30pm
Sunday 2:00pm-10:00pm

Fee includes one space for one tent or trailer only.
  • Additional 220 electrical hook-ups (re: refrigerator, freezer, lights, etc.) separate from serving trailer/booth will have a $200 hook-up fee per plug plus tax & fees.  Any additional 110 electrical hook-ups are $100 hook-up fee per plug plus tax & fees.
  • Vendors are responsible for bringing all supplies and equipment necessary for their set up and operation. Vendors must use a food grade hose. Refunds will not be given unless the Park Department cancels the event in its entirety.
  • Vendors MUST provide a certificate of insurance naming the Town of Schererville (not the Park Dept.) as the certificate holder and additional insured one month prior to the event (please see below for more details).
  • All vendors will be responsible for having a posted and visible County Health Permit and a 10lb. ABC fire extinguisher with current certification tag.  Vendors will not be allowed to set up or operate if all requirements are not met and are subject to inspection by local fire department officials.
  • Set up time will be Tuesday from 1pm-5pm ONLY (Note: NO overnight security for Tuesday set up) Vendors are expected to operate during event hours.  Application and food items sold are subject to approval.
INDEMNIFICATION AND INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
The Vendor agrees to carry, hold and maintain all insurance coverage as is necessary and appropriate for operating a food concession including general liability coverage for the premises and product liability.  Further, said coverage must be for a limit of at least $1,000,000.00.   All of the above coverages shall remain in effect at all times during the term of this Agreement.  The insurance policy shall name the Town of Schererville, the Schererville Parks and Recreation Board and all authorized agents and employees of said political subdivision as co-insured for said policy(ies).  Further, said policy(ies) shall contain a clause that the insurer will not cancel or change the insurance coverage without first giving the Schererville Parks and Recreation Board ten (10) days written notice of said change or cancellation.

Further, the Vendor shall hold harmless and indemnify the Town of Schererville and the Schererville Parks and Recreation Board, and all authorized agents and employees from any and all liability and or claims due to use or consumption of the Vendor’s products or due to damage and or theft of Vendor’s vehicles, equipment, merchandise, goods, and ware kept upon premises in conjunction with the event.

THE BIG No Nos
(a list of things that is unacceptable and will have you removed from future shows and all monies lost)

1. Leaving Early
Tearing down early seems to be a trend at many other locations but not Schererville. This is extremely disrespectful to all parties involved and flat out rude. I understand things happen and you may need to leave but communication is required WITH Recreation Director (Josh) to accommodate that.

2. Arriving Late
Each event day starts at a specific time, your booth space should be ready for business 30 minutes before on each event start time. Ready for Business means that someone should be at the booth/truck and it should be opened for business.

3. Parking Incorrectly
This is HUGE! Parking is a premium with our events and some think they are exempt from this. If you have a request in regards to parking then you must speak with the Recreation Director (DON’T ASSUME). Every parking spot taken up by a crafter/vendor in customer parking is one less customer for you to see.

4. Respect
Every person and THING deserves this. BE KIND, please.
The  No Nos above are the specific policies that seem to always have to be reiterated every year. These things WE WILL NOT TOLERATE. We must have structure or you won’t succeed. Keep in mind we are very accommodating but you MUST communicate.

Waiver & Release Of All Claims
I, the participant (the Vendor) in this event/program, recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury and I agree and assume the full risk of any injuries, including death, damages or loss which the participant (s) may sustain as a result of participating in all activities connected with or associated with such program.

I, the Vendor assume the entire responsibility and liability for losses, damages, and claims arising out of injury or damage to the Vendor's unit, display, equipment and other property brought onto the Town's premises in this event/program, and agree to waive and relinquish all claims that I or the participants may have as a result of participating in the event/program against the above named entity and its agents, officers, servants, and employees, including any and all such losses, damages and claims arising out of such use.

I, the participant ("The Vendor") in this event/program agree to fully release and discharge the above named and its officers, agents, servants, and employees from any and all claims for injuries, including death, damage or loss which the vendor, its employees, or any participants may have or which occur to me or the participants on account of participation in the above programs.

I, the participant ("The Vendor") in this event/program further agree to indemnify, hold harmless, and defend the above named entity and its officers, agents, servants, and employees from any and all claims resulting from injuries, including death, damages, and/or losses sustained by the vendor or participants and arising out of, connecting with, or in any way associated with the activities of the above event, including cancellation due to weather or unforeseen conditions beyond the control of the Parks Department.

I have read and fully understand the above event details and I fully understand that “This is a release of all claims”.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
