Celebrate diversity, unity, and community at the City of Kissimmee's Martin Luther King Jr Unity Celebration! This energetic festival features live performances from Gospel, R&B, and Soul artists, as well as food trucks, craft vendors, an art Unity Garden, essay contests, and the KUA Kids Power Zone. Join us on Saturday, January 14, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at Kissimmee Lakefront Park.

About the application

Application to submit an essay for judging in the 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Celebration Festival. Document must be submitted as a Word or PDF document for judging. Winners will be asked to attend the event to be acknowledged and receive their award.

Terms & Conditions

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Middle School students can submit a poem in any format and High School students can submit a 300-word, five-paragraph essay with one introductory paragraph, three main body paragraphs with support and development and one concluding paragraph. All poems and essays must be written following the theme "My Dream."
 
HOW TO WIN: Judging for the poetry and essay competition will be done by the Osceola County NAACP, Osceola Visionaries Inc & Osceola Library staff. One winner will be selected for the Middle School age bracket and another winner for the High School age bracket. Winners will be announced at the City of Kissimmee's Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Celebration on Saturday, January 14 where they will receive a plaque and will be invited on stage to read their poem and essay.
