About the event

Abbeville is where you want to be during the third weekend in October. Since its kickoff in 2013, the Hogs and Hens BBQ Festival has drawn thousands to our charming town! The Festival features Craft Vendors, Live Music, and some of the best BBQ this side of the Mississippi! The City is thrilled to partner with The Southern Barbecue Network, an organization of talented and certified judges who work with BBQ competitions throughout the Southeast.

About the application

1. What We Provide a. The City provides a 10 x 10 space for vendors and electricity when requested in advance on the application. Please note that there are limited electrical outlets and those requests will be honored on a first come first serve basis. 2. What You Provide a. Please bring with you tents, tables, chairs, and anything else you need to setup your space. The City does not provide any of these materials. Please bring your own change. The City does not provide change to patrons or vendors. b. City staff can NOT help vendors load or unload any items. Vendors should come equipped to do so on their own. Please note that you may have to carry items by hand to your as no traffic will be allowed on Square until risk to public has dissipated. c. The Festival area will be patrolled by City Police overnight. Vendors are welcome to leave their items out overnight. If you choose not to, you will need to carry the items back to your vehicle as the roads will be closed. The City is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. 3. Check-In Process a. Vendors on the Square are to arrive from South Main Street and exit through North Main Street. The drive through portion is to unload, NOT set up. Vendors should unload their items, pull their vehicle off the Square, then come back to their assigned spot to set up. b. Vendors in the Livery Stable are to enter from behind the Stable. Vehicles are NOT allowed in the Stable. Once items are unloaded at Stable doors, your vehicle must be moved to a parking spot. c. The City reserves the right to make last minute changes due to extenuating circumstances. d. Vehicles are NOT allowed on the Square during festival hours. If you need to drive onto the Square, you must do so before festival hours begin. Vendors MUST stay until the conclusion of the Festival and will not be able to drive onto the Square until the Festival ends. Failure to comply with these public safety rules will negatively affect your chances of acceptance at future City events. 4. Important Times and Judging a. Craft show hours on Friday, October 15th are from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Craft show hours on Saturday, October 16th are from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM. Vendors MUST be selling during this time. Failure to do so will negatively affect your chances of acceptance at future City Events. b. Three representatives from the Abbeville Artist Guild will be judging those vendors who opted into the competition on Saturday. Awards will be presented for Best Booth Presentation and Best in Show Craft Item on Saturday afternoon, before the BBQ judging announcement. Winners will receive a plaque and a Square Dollars Gift Card. 5. Other Notes a. There are no designated parking areas for vendors. Vendors will NOT have immediate access to vehicles during Festival hours. b. Please note that the City does its best to accommodate vendor request concerning location assignments and tries to reward vendors who register early and often for City Events; however, our main goals are to maximize our resources to ensure efficiency at the Festival and a pleasant visitor experience to this event. c. The City is working hard to market the Festival, including the Craft Show, to make this event profitable for all vendors involved. The City would also like to encourage individual vendors to market the Festival by posting about your involvement with the Festival and tagging the City of Abbeville through social media leading up to and even during the event. d. The City values your feedback; if you have a change that you think would make the Festival better, feel free to send us an email. While we can’t guarantee we will act on the suggestion, your feedback is appreciated. Ultimately City Events are a partnership between the City, sponsors and vendors.

Terms & Conditions

I agree by the rules stated in this application along with the rules and regulations. I understand that all promotion of my items must take place within the confines of my booth. I understand that failure to comply with Festival guidelines, misrepresentation of products, disorderly conduct, or verbal abuse will result in immediate expulsion from the Festival and funds will not be refunded. I further understand that the City of Abbeville and all their representatives are not responsible or liable for damages including but not limited to, loss suffered before, during, or after each event I have applied to as a result of the display of my work, equipment, or material. I understand that there are no refunds or rain checks due to inclement weather. The City of Abbeville reserves the right to refuse booth space based on event guidelines.

Prices

Space in Livery Stables $50 Non-refundable Vendors have the choice of setting up on either the Square or inside the Livery Stable, a semioutdoor space just off the Square. Each option includes a 10’ x 10’ space. Vendors are responsible for bringing all other necessary materials. All chairs, tables, chairs, tents, etc. must fit within your allotted space. If using a tent on the Square, durable tent weights are required. Note that the City cannot guarantee you will be placed in your preferred location. The City also reserves the right to make last minute changes due to extenuating circumstances.
Outlet $15 Non-refundable Limited power is available if requested and costs an additional $15. Electricity is supplied on a first come first save basis and should only be used small things like string lights or a fan.
