20-0097: 2020 Christmasville Limited Edition- Oil on Light Walnut. Barn owls are monogamous for the lifetime, unless one of the pair dies, and live a solitary life or in pairs. The female lays an average clutch of 4 eggs in a nest of a hollow tree or an old building , many times preferring a corner in an old barn - hence the name barn owl. The female does all the incubation but both feed the young. They communicate with physical displays or vocalization. He does not hoot, but utters an eerie, drawn out raspy screech or hissing scream.

A Bird Lady
Hello, this is my 6th year participating in Christmasville as The Bird Lady. My birds are painted in oil on various types of wood from the area. For the last 3 years I have created a limited edition series especially for Christmasville—Cardinals, Woodpeckers and now Owls. The owl’s most fascinating feature for an artist is their coloring and patterned plumage – which is why the owl was chosen as the 2020 Limited Edition bird.
