"I am energized painting birds, capturing their character, volume and context. This Great Egret was prowling the swamp/woods that our morning walking path encircled. One long step after another this elegant bird took little notice of us, peering through the branches for its next hunting spot. The titanium white on the egret jumps out in juxtaposition to the fluorescent greens used in the background. "

My goal is to create acrylic and watercolour paintings that reflect the beauty and uncertainty in natural settings. Using bold underpainting, strong marks and dramatic value changes, I endeavour to evoke a sense of familiarity, spark a memory and encourage reflection. Moving forward to face a landscape that is forever changed is my challenge for 2022. My artwork reflects this journey.
