This listing is for one standard tabletop card gaming play mat featuring the artwork of fantasy and sci-fi illustrator, Charles Urbach.
This image, titled "Legions of the West" was featured on the packaging for the Gates of Chaos expansion and several cards from that set in the AEG era of Legend of the Five Rings. The art is considered one of the strongest representations of the Yodotai (Roman-like) faction in the history of L5R.
It is only available direct from the artist and select retailers who have direct relationships with the artist. Like all Charles' products, it is made in the USA. Charles is involved in every part of the production process and your purchase goes directly to support his work.

The game mat is sized at 24 inches wide by 14 inches tall and has a soft polyester surface backed by a rubber backing. It is a "traditional" cloth/rubber gaming play mat.

Charles
Charles Urbach is an award-winning colored pencil illustrator with 30 years experience in design and illustration. He began work in publishing/advertising in 1991, simultaneously earning a degree in illustration emphasizing traditional drawing, painting, and printmaking. Building on the dual experience in the academic and professional worlds, Charles developed a drawing process that combines pen & paper drawing and digital editing for sketches, with colored pencil techniques for the final artwork. The result is hand drawn colored pencil artwork with the depth and sophistication of paintings.
Charles' published genre work includes hundreds of illustrations for the tabletop gaming industry, book covers, marketing art for major gaming conventions including Origins Game Fair and Gary Con, and corporate graphic design & concept work. Projects have included design for AT&T, miniatures designs for Wizkids' Heroclix, illustrations for "Magic: The Gathering," “Star Wars,” "Legend of the Five Rings," and artwork for many other properties including “Esper Genesis,” “Das Schwarze Auge,” “Infinite City," “Doomtown Reloaded,” "A Game of Thrones," "Call of Cthulhu," "Lord of the Rings," and many others.
He is a three time Chesley Award winner, with awards from Gen Con, Dragon Con, CONvergence, Origins Game Fair, JordanCon, PhilCon, MarCon, among others. Charles is a frequent Guest of Honor, panelist, and instructor at conventions and tournaments throughout North America and Europe.
