About Anneli...
Anneli grew up under the vast blue skies and golden wheat fields of the Canadian Prairies. The solitude of the country and the backdrop of nature nurtured an innate ability to slow down, observe the world, and use the gift of imagination. This contemplative approach continues today and is represented in her abstract paintings that are inspired largely by our natural world.
The process of exploration and experimentation are the grounding qualities of her approach to painting. “I typically begin all paintings with an undercoat of burnt sienna. It represents our planet earth, the soil I stand on and it grounds me for the experience of what’s to come in any painting. From there I begin with a color or a thought or sometimes a shape that appears in the undercoat. I paint intuitively, following the emotion and curiosities that direct me along the way.”
Anneli has a strong interest in art as Spirit. Some of her influences include Agnes Pelton, Hilma af Klint, Emily Carr, and Georgia O’Keefe. She has recently changed her life focus to being a full-time artist with the intention of bringing her vision and talent to appreciative audiences. Her current inspirations include the landscapes of Canada’s west coast, southwest Saskatchewan, New Mexico and southern Arizona, all of which provide her with a profound sense of spiritual connection and grist for the mill of painting.
