This framed oil and wax painting is part of an abstract series that concentrates on “self compassion” and connection to place. Intuition is forefront in my choices of design and colour. In this work, I carved into the surface of the painting to symbolize the idea of etching these moments to memory. My painted response becomes a permanent record of an uplifting yet fleeting experience. The process of recording it means I may revisit the moment, store it to memory, and ultimately grow from it.
I have included photos of the Self Compassion abstract series installed together to show possibility.

Welcome to my gallery! I hope you enjoy your visit. I love meeting new people and discussing all things art, so please feel free to reach out. I hope you find inspiration here.
My paintings are about compassion for the human condition and close connections. I am interested in the goodwill or "glue" that holds individuals and groups together. My inspiration comes from seeing or experiencing acts of genuine support.
I have a consistently experimental and intuitive approach, using delicate layers of mixed water media and oils. I either paint abstracts or abstracted figures where I bring together elements to tell a new kind of story, using symbolic colour, value and connection processes like draw close, merge, stick and share.
I reinvent the figure in inclusive and diverse ways, varying their degree of abstraction, diminishing barriers between them and equalizing them to their essential humanity. Ultimately, I paint an imaginary, hopeful and inclusive world.
