Shalom Y'All: Images of Jewish Life in the American South.
Temple Mishkan Israel. Selma, Alabama. The first Jewish settlers in Selma
arrived prior to the Civil War, but the city’s Jewish community did not
officially begin until 1867 when residents began holding services in their
homes. Selma’s Jewish community has always been well represented in the
civic life of the city; several Jews have served as mayors and as presidents of
the Chamber of Commerce. The members, who now number fewer than
twenty, remain faithful to the synagogue and its historic presence in Selma.
But still, when leaving the building after services, members joke, “Last
person left, turn out the lights.”
Prints of all the images on my website may be ordered. Prices for archival exhibition 16"x20" prints vary from $750.00 to $1,500, with a few exceptions. 11"x14" prints may also be ordered for $495 to $1,500. Please write Bill to inquire.

I first gained international recognition for my book, “From The Corners Of The Earth,” introduction by Chaim Potok, which chronicles Jewish communities in Russia, Cuba, Jerusalem, New York and Los Angeles. A second volume followed, “Shalom Y’all: Images of Jewish Life in the American South,” introduction by Alfred Uhry. My latest book, “New Beginnings: The Triumph of 120 Cancer Survivors” focuses on people whose diagnosis of cancer led to profoundly positive life altering experiences. Introduction by Jane Brody. I have been lately working on large-scale multi-image panoramas of Israel by stitching together numerous frames into one photograph. Many of my photographs have been exhibited in major museums and galleries throughout the United States and Israel, and are included in numerous permanent collections.
