Description

Dimensions: 8 1/4 inches wide and stands almost 1 inch tall Finish: Ebonizing solution, Danish Oil Not For Use With Food Description: I love plates. I use them on my dining room table to layer up other items for display. Sometimes I layer plates and bowls and plates with more plates and then a bowl. Plates are a whole thing for me. Love me some plates. Thisv plate started out life as a large sheet of oak in a cabinet shop. The pieces I got were either unsuitable for cabinets or they were cut offs or something else made them unwanted bits of wood that I gladly rescued. I love oak. It reacts with the ebonizing solution quickly and brillinantly. Some oak immediately turns jet black, while other pieces only turn grey, or they become darker as the wood dries. It's a fun process. This plate turned a variety of shades of black because the original sheet of wood was a composite of oak pieces. This plate make a statement, but its not as loud and chatty as the cerused oak plates. If you like your decor subtle but want a little pop without upsetting the apple cart, this plate will do it. The bowl pictured behind the plate is also for sale under the name "Down the Rabbit Hole Bowl". It is spalted Norfolk pine and pairs nicely with the black plate.

Joe Joe Beans Design

Welcome to Joe Joe Beans Design! I'm Joe and I founded this small, family run company in 2018. All of our products are sustainable, handmade and one of a kind. There are so many unwanted trees and assorted wood things that go unused, or even worse, abandoned to a landfill. Those are the things I salvage, process and turn on the lathe so they become something new and useful. Nothing here started out as lumber from the wood store. Like I said, I'm Joe. But to be clear Joe is really a Jo. So why Jo with an 'e'? That's the way Dad spells it. With an 'e'. Dad taught me to use power tools & make wooden things. Hence, the 'e' is all about my Dad. The man behind the scenes, kind of like the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain, ismy husband. Whenever the lumber is too heavy or the obstacle too great, somehow he makes it happen. He calls himself 'Labor' but he's really the lynch pin. And if you're wondering what's with the 'Beans,' it's my daughter. She anchors me and her name for me is Joe Joe Beans. By the grace of God here I am, the girl Joe, hanging out in the workshop making stuff.
