I love plates. I use them on my dining room table to layer up other items for display. Sometimes I layer plates and bowls and plates with more plates and then a bowl. Plates are a whole thing for me. Love me some plates.
This plate started out life as a church pew. A church in St. Petersburg got new pews and this piece of oak came from one of the old pews. When I turned it I formed a lip around the edge in keeping with the church collection plate shape. It just felt right to me.
This is a great plate for accessorizing. The lip makes it perfect for holding small items or accessories. I think it's even perfect for layering with another plate.
A small cerused plate is shown in one of the photos with the brown plate. It is also for sale under the name "Ebonized and Cerused Oak Plates". It is the smaller of the two cerused plates and it nests nicely with this brown plate.

Welcome to Joe Joe Beans Design!
I'm Joe and I founded this small, family run company in 2018. All of our products are sustainable, handmade and one of a kind.
There are so many unwanted trees and assorted wood things that go unused, or even worse, abandoned to a landfill. Those are the things I salvage, process and turn on the lathe so they become something new and useful. Nothing here started out as lumber from the wood store.
Like I said, I'm Joe.
But to be clear Joe is really a Jo.
So why Jo with an 'e'?
That's the way Dad spells it. With an 'e'.
Dad taught me to use power tools & make wooden things.
Hence, the 'e' is all about my Dad.
The man behind the scenes, kind of like the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain, ismy husband.
Whenever the lumber is too heavy or the obstacle too great, somehow he makes it happen.
He calls himself 'Labor' but he's really the lynch pin.
And if you're wondering what's with the 'Beans,' it's my daughter.
She anchors me and her name for me is Joe Joe Beans.
By the grace of God here I am, the girl Joe, hanging out in the workshop making stuff.
