"Moraine Lake" (Banff National Park, Alberta) Fine Art Archival Print

A gorgeous sunrise view as storm clouds part at daybreak over Moraine Lake in Alberta's Banff National Park. I'm often asked if this photo is enhanced, or if the water could really be that tone of blue... and like all of my work, this is how the scene truly looks in its natural form. The water appears this shade because of finely ground silt known as glacial flour. Rock is pulverized beneath glaciers, and when it erodes into an alpine lake like Moraine it becomes suspended in the water to reflect light in brilliant turquoise hues. It's a beautiful sight, and only adds to the enchantment found at this famous Valley of Ten Peaks vista.
