Description
It’s titled, OZARK ROOTS, but perhaps a better name for it would be the Coronavirus painting. I’ve wanted to create this painting for a number of years, but I knew it would be a long term project. With the beginning of the Coronavirus shelter-in-place orders in mid-March I knew now was the time to paint it. Little did I know it would take me five months to complete it.
Ozark Roots is based on a very old Kodachrome slide I made in the late 1960’s while tramping through the woods south of Highlandville, Missouri. All of these years it has been one of my favorite photographs, and now, it’s a favorite painting.
