The Benedictine Way is a community of all types of Christians (all genders, both monks and lay people) who attempt to follow Jesus in a specific way, a Benedictine way, which includes a life of prayer, service to the poor and forgotten, and a life of fellowship in community.
Our ministry in our North Omaha neighborhood is focused on addressing hunger. The Benedictine Way operates three urban gardens, growing produce to give out (along with non-perishable items) at our twice weekly food pantry. 90% of the produce from our gardens is given out in this way.
The Benedictine Way is also a member of The Rainbow Initiative, an initiative of the National Episcopal Church which promotes support for people who have fled their countries because of persecution based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and/or sex characteristics.
The Rule of Benedict teaches us how to live in peace with one another, how to listen to God and one another more deeply, and how to live a life of service.
